Entertaining the possibility of the Polestar 2 really opened the floodgates. Getting up into that price bracket added a lot more options and one of the obvious ones was the Mach-E. Sadly, at that time, the Mach-E was one of the hardest cars to find and a contender for most marked-up car. Because of this I never got close to buying one, but I did find a used one that I was able to test drive a bit. I can’t say that I got a good feel for it, but I will say that it felt nice and seemed to be a well thought out package. I can’t say it was truly a ‘value’ but compared to the other vehicles in its price category I think its standard features were very competitive.
A few positives and negatives I noticed: The one-pedal drive mode was not as smooth as other cars. Just before stopping it would start to feel jerky. The big, central touch screen looked very nice. The interior felt surprisingly premium to me. I generally liked the size and shape of the car: it seemed attractive, yet practical, without looking like most other CUVs. The long hood looks good and gives a good amount of frunk space, but with the charge port located aft of that I would be a little concerned with cable reach in some situations.
